Konpira Maru 'Whitlands' Pinot Gris Gewurz 2020
Due to a combination of smoke and kangaroos/deer pushed into our vineyard by the fires, yields were down. Subsequently only a four barrels (2 year old Hungarian hogsheads) were made. After fermentation the wine was left on solids for a further 2 weeks before being racked off gross lees. The wine was then left in oak for 9 months.
Barrels were racked and blended (X2), then hand bottled, unfined and unfiltered.
Straighter edge than 2019 due to the lack of skin contact, this really lets the fruit shine with peach, passionfruit and a beautiful viscosity.'
