The Wine Farm The Vintage 2015 Magnum

$131.00

Vintage 2015, not the most descriptive wine. This is a wine that's only made in the best years, where Neil Hawkins will take some of the first/best fruit from all his wines and co-ferment it to form The Vintage.

In 2015 it was a blend of 10% Pinot noir (quickly pressed after picking), 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Pinot Gris, 20% Chardonnay, 30% Riesling and 10% Gewurztraminer. Vintage aims to reflect the terroir of The Wine Farm, and what the Hawkins Family is doing through their organic, biodynamic practices in Gippsland.

Reminiscent specifically of natural french wine from the Jura but without the oxidisation. Wow! Textural, fleshly, aromatic, and layered wine. Bright acidity that leads into fleshy white nectarines, white peaches, grapefruit, juicy pomelo, lemonades [the fruit, not the soft drink], minerality, hot rocks, slight sea spray notes, floral (honey-suckle, citrus blossom, lily), lemon, sprinkling of sherbet, flakes of toffee apple, ginger, and allspice. There is so much going on, it feels like your tongue is fighting itself to taste everything. So balanced and delicious with a wonderfully long finish. Though not cheap, this is probably one of the most interesting Australian white wines we have tried in the past 2 years. Truly Moreish!
