View full detailsFrench wine has a stronghold over the hearts of many Australian wine lovers, and for many reasons. Considered the best winemaking country in the world, France faces many competitors but continues to come out on top thanks to its many climates, soils, and variety of terroir that enhances the flavours and production of its wine. Now, you may be thinking that there isn’t possibly anything better than pouring a lovely glass of French wine, but we have a few words that might excite you: natural French wine.
There is no official definition for what makes a natural wine. Natural wine is usually grown in small scale, by independent producers. Grapes are hand-picked from sustainable, organic, or biodynamic vineyards. The wine is fermented with no added yeast, no additives are included in fermentation and little to no sulphites are added. Simply it’s as natural as it can be.
Natural wine is farmed organically, meaning the grapes are free from pesticides, herbicides, and fertilisers, and then made without adding or removing anything in the cellar. The end result is a living wine that is both wholesome and full of naturally occurring microbiology.
Combining the beauty of French wine and the eco-friendly process of natural winemaking helps create a truly unique and powerful drop that all wine lovers, and those new to the wine world, can’t help but relish.
We are more conscious than ever of what we put into our bodies and out into the environment.
