Adeline Houillon & Renaud Bruyère, Arbois Les Tourillons 2016
'Les Tourillons, the vineyard with which Renaud and Adeline began their domaine in 2011, is the vineyard in the photo above. It is .7Ha with a westerly exposure at an altitude of 450 metres. The soil is rich in limestone, with lots of scree through the soil, which makes it is light and easy to work. Renaud says it’s the lightest soil in their estate. The vineyard is coplanted with Chardonnay (80%) and Savagnin (20%) with a little Trousseau. The Chardonnay and Savagnin vines are approximately between 50 and 60 years old. It also has a big advantage in that all the immediate neighbours work organically as well. And it has beautiful views of Arbois!
To make this wine both the white grapes are harvested on the same day, with the Chardonnay always a little riper, and then pressed and vinified together. The wine is aged in oak barrels on the lees and always ferment very slowly. It was bottled in June 2018. This wine is always full of energy and incredible tension, with notable salinity and minerality.'
