Christian Tschida Felsen I 2015
This wine is made from 100% Blaufränkisch planted on the limestone rich soils west of Lake Neusiedlersee. The grapes are crushed by foot, kept on the skins for 10 weeks and fermented in large barrels. The wine spends 2 years in large 1200 litre barrels and is bottled without fining or filtration.
The Felsen I from Christian Tschida is a great red wine. This elegant Blaufränkisch presents a light fizziness at the beginning, just decant it if you don’t like this aspect. Although it’s a 2015 taste like an aged red, it reminded us of an old school Bordeaux-style wine. Whitepepper, cherry and stony minerality.
