Domaine Dandelion - AOC Hautes Cotes de Beaune rouge 2018
Partners in wine and life; Morgane Seuillot (French) & Christian Knott (Australian) got set up by Morgane's mother and have been together since. Together they make up Domaine Dandelion, a small organic biodynamic Domaine in the Hautes Cotes de Beaune, Burgundy.
The harvest in Haut Cotes de Beaune is nearly a month later than the rest of Burgundy. There is no mechanisation in the vineyards apart from when the vineyards are too steep. They are only worked by hand, only using horses. They choose to spray raw milk on the vines instead of sulphur and no pumping or filtration is used. All bottle labels are drawn and applied by hand. This brings a uniqueness to the wines of Burgundy.
The Pinot Noir is rich, ample and silky at the same time. On the palate, intense flavours of red berries develop, dark fruit, with elegant spice, mushrooms, roses, beautiful acidity, fine tannin and a deliciously long finish that leaves you wanting more. Very moreish!
Dominique Derain's thoughts about Domaine Dandelion are: "In the wine world, after 40 years or so, winemakers are still born and still transport you and awaken your pleasure".
