Egly Ouriet Les Vignes de Vrigny Premier Cru
“The Egly-Ouriet Champagnes are built on maniacal attention in the vineyards, vinification in oak, long aging in bottle before disgorgement and low dosage, all of which yield rich, vinous Champagnes of tremendous density and power. … These wines confirm Egly's standing among the elite grower estates in Champagne.”
- Antonio Galloni
Vintages: 2014 (50%), 2013 (30%) & 2012 (20%)
Disgorgement: December 2018
Time on lees: 42 months
100% Pinot Meunier from a single, 40-year-old, south facing vineyard in Vrigny, a commune located on the Petite Montagne de Reims (very close to Gueux, where Jérôme Prévost is based). Straight Pinot Meunier remains a rarity in Champagne and in Egly’s hands it is something unique. Low yields, old vines and ripe fruit make this one of the most intense, layered and opulent Meunier wines kicking around. In recent years, as Egly has increased the reserve wine and the time on lees. This new release is stunning, layered, luscious and complex yet also mineral. Bottled without filtration. Dosage for this bottling is 6g/l.
