Massolino Barbera d'Alba 2017
'Massolino’s barbera is often my go-to from their range despite the range soaring into Barolo crus of note. Here, we find low yields and a well-maintained, single-vineyard are also elements at play. It hangs out only in stainless steel and is bottled relatively young.
Cherry-laden perfume shows some exotic spice, floral notes, pepper too. Chewy sort of texture with a light juiciness at play, sour cherry spectrum flavours, but in great way, and finishes with a little tug of tannins and bright acidity. Neatly put together wine, feels a little understated in best kind of way. I like the vibe here.'
