Rare Character 'Old Mate' Whiskey 2-pack

These are the first bottles of Rare Character brought into exclusively for Australia. We decided on the name 'Old Mate' as it was something that was uniquely Australian and recognisable to any Australian. The label was designed by a local Australian artist @hollymahoney.artist. Any picks selected for Australia under the name 'Old Mate' will be designed by a local Australian Artist or photographer. 

This is a special 2-pack with one of each the Bourbon and Rye. 

Rare Character Old Mate Bourbon

Age: 6 years 1 month
Proof: 116.6 / 58.3% ABV
Mash: 60 corn / 36 rye / 4 malt
Heavy toasted heads
Tasting notes: Brown sugar, cherry, spice - similar to a classic cherry soda fountain drink. Clove, liquorice, nutmeg, with a touch of citrus and tobacco on the finish. The heavy toast heads add to the richer spice and earthen notes. Spending time in all three environments, it’s quite a unique profile for this age and mashbill. While typically spice heavy and rye grain forward, the grain has aged out and more of the barrel influence comes forth. "An extra fizzy cherry cola from a old school soda fountain."
 

Rare Character Old Mate Rye

Age: 6 years 9 months
Proof: 115.22 / 57.61% ABV
Mash: 51 rye / 45 corn / 4 malt
Low toasted heads
Tasting notes:  winter mint, leather, brown butter, honey tea, fried dough; light apricot and peach jam on the finish, before rounding out with oak tannins, pepper, and vanilla. This spent a chunk of its life in metal and concrete warehousing; lending to the light tropical fruit and sweet notes, the rye spice is underlying the whole profile for a richer mouthfeel and complexity.
