Ravensworth Sangiovese 2021


Sourced from six vineyards in the Hilltops and Canberra regions. The Hilltops fruit gives depth, roundness, texture and weight, while the Canberra sites (at higher elevation) contribute the varietal character. 2021 was whole berry fermented and spent three weeks on skins. Gentle hand plunging then pressed and racked to four-year-old puncheons and some larger older oak. Minimal exposure to oxygen is employed and low sulphur additions only. 

There's six different vineyards from Murrumbateman, Young and Harden contributing this year. A beautiful medium bodied wine that carries fragrant dark cherry, floral and spice aromas with a fine textural palate. Our fifteenth vintage and just getting better and better with vine age and us getting the smarts. 

Anything with tomatoes in it will work a treat. Sangiovese goes head to head with high acid food like battlebots. So pizza and pasta along with more complex braised veal and game dishes will defs go well with here.
