Mourvèdre made by Craig Hawkins from Swartland, South Africa. He is one of the shining lights of young South African winemakers. This is made in a bright, light, style of wine that can be enjoyed now so it is quite the opposite of what you expect from a Mourvedre/Mataro. 100% whole bunch fermented. Notes of sour raspberries/cherries, blueberries, initially cranberries, spice, herbs, minerality and graphite. Crunch meets structured tannins, but at no point does they become chewy and heavy. Medium bodied wine finishing with a nice berry tartness. Delicious wine that would go well with some beef short ribs or why not a bag of biltong!
