The London Distillery Company, Rye Whiskey, LV 1767 Edition
This bottling from London-based independent craft distiller The London Distillery Company has the distinction of being the first whiskey distilled in London since the closure of the Lea Valley Distillery in 1903 (The LV-1767 name refers to the year Lee Valley was founded). The whiskey was crafted from 100% Warminster rye, before it was twice distilled and laid down in cask on 31st October 2014 to mature for 4 years in new English oak barrels. It was bottled at 54.3% ABV, with only 251 bottles produced.
Nose: Banana fritters, dried apricots and stewed apples lead among bittersweet aromas of dark chocolate and espresso.
Palate: Oak tannins and rich winter spice crackle through orchard fruit, tart cherry and a distinct beeswax note.
Finish: The finish lengthy with a creamy nuttiness and flickers of white pepper spice
