Maltbarn

Maltbarn is a small independent bottler based in Germany, founded in 2012 by Martin Diekmann. Rather than building a brand around packaging or marketing, Maltbarn does one thing: source individual casks from well-known Scotch distilleries — names like GlenDronach, Caol Ila, Springbank and Longmorn — and bottle them exactly as they came out of the wood. No colouring, no chill-filtration, natural cask strength.

What that means in the glass is variation. Every release is its own thing, shaped by the specific cask and the years it spent maturing. Maltbarn's quiet, nature-photography labels have become a signal among collectors that what's inside is worth paying attention to — and because each release comes from a single cask, numbers are tiny, often a few hundred bottles or fewer. Once it's gone, that particular whisky doesn't come back.
