Rare Character Whiskey Co

Rare Character Whiskey Company was founded in 2021 by Pablo Moix and Peter Nevenglosky — Pablo an acclaimed restaurateur and bar owner who'd spent over a decade personally hunting single barrels across America, Pete the co-founder of Drifter Spirits (the family behind Paladar Tequila, which we also bring into Australia). Between them, they hold relationships with top distillers across Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana that give Rare Character access to whiskey that has never been bottled for the public.

They don't just buy barrels, either. Rare Character works hands-on with distilleries — including running their own mash bills through other distilleries' stills — producing whiskey that simply doesn't exist anywhere else, like a 95/5 rye made in Kentucky, a mash bill almost unheard of in the state. The portfolio spans their flagship Single Barrel Series, the limited-release RCLR blends (marriages of 8–15 year old whiskey), revived heritage brands like Fortuna Bourbon, the Native Wood and Finishing Series (casks from Cognac to Jamaican rum to woods never before used on American whiskey), and the ultra-aged Exceptional Series.

Moreish Wines is the Australian home of Rare Character. Our first release, "Old Mate" — two single barrels picked by us, exclusively for Australia — sold out. Our allocation of RCLR Batch 2 went just as fast. Next up: two more single barrel bourbon picks selected for Australia, expected around July–August, with further RCLR batches arriving through the year.
