Domaine Bornard Triffaut Le Ginglet 2018

A rare and very charming Jura red from Bornard, made from Trousseau in Pupillin. Le Ginglet sits firmly in that light, bright, savoury Jura style, but with enough age now to show more earth, spice and autumnal depth.

Expect red cherry, wild strawberry, pomegranate, dried herbs, soft spice, a little forest floor and that distinctive Bornard natural-wine energy. It is light on its feet, fresh and savoury rather than heavy, with fine tannin and a gently rustic edge that makes it very moreish.

The name Ginglet comes from local Jura patois and roughly means having a drink and having fun, which sums this wine up pretty well. It is not a polished, glossy red. It is alive, expressive and full of character.

Best served lightly chilled. Great with roast chicken, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, pork, duck, Comté, or anything with a bit of earthy savouriness.
