Grown in organic and certified biodynamic vineyards in the heart of South Gippsland, Neil and Anna Hawkins tend to be some of the most meticulously cared-for vines in Australia. Their dedication to their vineyard is second to none. Living on their winery and farm, they produce exquisitely made cool-climate wines.
This latest vintage from the husband-and-wife duo might be their best yet. They use small, neutral Austrian oak barrels to age their reds, believing it allows the fruit to shine without an overpowering oak influence—and they’re absolutely right. This wine is structured and elegant, bursting with red currants, raspberries, light herbal notes, dustings of white pepper, and spice. Fine tannins and vibrant acidity carry through to a long, moreish finish.
