Terre de l’Élu wine pairing lunch - Kirribilli, 7th of March

It’s been a hot minute between our wine lunches/dinners - we used to run them regularly at Yang & Co., Yang’s Ramen & Tacos, and at Canva (pre-COVID). We’ve had a few people ask if we’d ever do them again, and we said we would… if the stars aligned: a great venue, a great chef, and great wines. Well — we think we’ve got it all sorted.

We’ll be hosting our first wine pairing lunch in Kirribilli, right on the doorstep of Sydney Harbour with one of the best views in Sydney (see image below).

Chef Nico

Chef Nico is a good friend and seriously talented chef, with a career built across hatted restaurants in Sardinia and eight years in London. His background spans working with Helena Puolakka (Savoy Helsinki; Pierre Koffmann lineage), a year at Atelier de Joël Robuchon, time with Tom Cook at Smith & Wollensky, and two years at the London institution Quaglino’s. In Italy, his most defining chapter was at Josto in Cagliari — a standout Sardinian–French bistro that helped shape his style: classic technique, big flavour and polish. Now based in Sydney, we have had the pleasure of working with Nico on private dinners and wine pairings last year.

The lunch includes 5 courses with 5 matching wines.

We’ll be focusing mainly on one French producer from the Loire Valley whose wines we absolutely love — plus a bonus Macvin from the Jura for the dessert pairing.

Terre de l’Élu (Anjou, Loire Valley, France)

Terre de l’Élu is a small domaine in Anjou, run by Charlotte & Thomas Carsin, farming organically on schist-rich hillsides. The wines are seriously high calibre — precise, vibrant and deeply “of place.” Their Chenin Blanc has balance, salt and length, while Cabernet Franc is lifted, savoury and quietly structured. Made with native ferments, gentle handling and minimal make-up, they land in that perfect spot of purity and finesse — and they absolutely come alive at the table. They also grow Grolleau, a classic Loire red variety that’s light-bodied, perfumed and bursting with bright red-fruit crunch and loads of drinkability.
