Equipo Navazos La Bota 77 Vino Blanco MMXV Florpower

$71.00

'Unfortified white wine (Palomino Fino), Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Screwcap closure. After the Navazos-Niepoort bottling, La Bota de Florpower is Navazos' second single-vineyard white wine. While the Navazos-Niepoort is sourced from Jerez's de facto Grand Cru vineyard, Macharnudo, this wine comes from Sanlúcar's own blue-ribbon terroir, the albarizas sanluqueñas of the pago Miraflores. The second major difference is that Florpower spends considerably more time under flor; eight months in bota (without fortification) followed by a further 12 months in tank. This release comes from the 2015 vintage and was bottled at 12.5% alc. after losing over 1% to the effects of the flor yeasts.'

- Bibendum

"The other unfortified, flor-aged white is the 2015 La Bota de Florpower 77 MMXV, but in this case the origin is Sanlúcar de Barrameda, hence it's like an unfortified Manzanilla. It fermented in stainless steel and matured under a veil of yeast (flor), first in oak casks for eight months and later a further nine months in stainless steel tank. It's a little closed, a wine that needs some time to take off, but has pungent and pharmaceutical aromas, somehow balsamic, and slowly developing notes of esparto grass and chalk. The palate is very powerful and more expressive than the nose. 3,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in the summer 2017." 94 points, Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate #234
