Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss, Moenchberg Pinot Gris Grand Cru 2019

A dry, powerful and finely detailed Pinot Gris grown on marl and sandstone soils shaped by ancient glacial deposits. Salmon-amber in colour, it opens with tangerine peel, mandarin, dried herbs, spice and savoury complexity. The palate is broad and textural at first—echoing the depth of the marls—before tightening into fresh, mineral, elegant lines from the sandstone. Fine, discreet tannins carry a long, resonant finish. As complex and compelling as orange/amber Pinot Gris gets; Grand Cru Alsace calibre at its best.

Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss (Alsace, FRA)

Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss produces biodynamic wines in Alsace and in the Rhone Valley. The winery has been certified since 1989. Today, Kreydenweiss farms a little less than 30 acres of vineyards in Alsace, which includes portions of 3 Grand Cru vineyards: Kastelberg, Moenchberg, and Weibelsberg. Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc vines dominate the plantings, but Kreydenweiss has other varieties planted, such as Pinot Noir.
