Domaine Hubert et Heidi Hausherr Le Sentier au Sud Pet Nat 2018 (Riesling & Pinot Gris)

A single-site Pet-Nat of 70% Riesling and 30% Pinot Gris, bright, fragrant and wonderfully alive. White blossom, lemon zest and ripe orchard fruit lead the nose, with a gentle, creamy mousse carrying pear skin and subtle tropical hints. A whisper of natural volatility brings aromatic lift and a touch of wild energy, perfectly in tune with the style. The palate is textural yet ultra-fresh, shaped by long élevage in old oak and the estate’s zero-additive approach. Savoury, saline and lightly grippy to finish. This is a soulful, quietly wild Pet-Nat.

Hubert and Heidi Hausherr farm just 3.9 hectares on the slopes of Eguisheim, working organically and biodynamically with their horse, Skippy, and zero tractors. Each parcel is field planted with multiple varieties, creating a vibrant, naturally balanced ecosystem. In the cellar, Hubert keeps things equally simple: manual wooden presses, native ferments, neutral oak and no additives or sulphur. The wines are pure, salty, long and quietly profound — true single-vineyard expressions shaped by hard work and real craftsmanship.
