Michael Hall Sang de Pigeon Pinot Noir 2025

$38.00

This is exactly the sort of Pinot we want to drink during the week.

Extremely juicy, vibrant and fresh, packed with red cherry, raspberry and redcurrant with a little cranberry and gentle spice underneath. There’s plenty of fruit, but it never feels sweet or heavy, with bright acidity and soft, fine tannins keeping everything moving.

It’s light on its feet, incredibly easy to drink and the sort of bottle that seems to disappear very quickly once opened. Give it a slight chill and don’t think too hard about it.

'Sang de Pigeon (pigeon’s blood) is a nod to my former life as a jewellery valuer. It’s the trade term for the finest rubies, invariably from the Mogok Stone Tract in Myanmar. The precious grapes for this Pinot Noir were grown in the elevated vineyards of South Australia’s Adelaide Hills.

For wine nerds like me: Grown at Kangaroo Creek in Lenswood. Low winter rains were followed by a warm and dry growing season, echoing the 2019 vintage and prompting an early harvest. Hand-picked on the 1st and 7th of March, fermented in open fermenters, 38% whole bunch, pressed to barrel and matured for 11 months in French oak (12.5% new, Francois Frères).

9500 bottles produced.'
