Tasting notes

White peach and nectarine are lifted by citrus, following through to a rounded, textured palate. Well-integrated oak, balanced acidity and mineral detail give the wine definition and a persistent finish.

Vineyard

Sorrenberg is a three-hectare Beechworth vineyard established in 1984 at an elevation of 560 metres. Its sandy loam soils lie mainly over granite, adjoining red mudstone.

How it is made

The 2024 Chardonnay was entirely barrel fermented in French oak, with 25–30% new oak. Natural yeast fermentation was followed by complete malolactic fermentation. The wine spent ten months on lees with weekly stirring, followed by another eight months in barrel. Handling and filtration were kept to a minimum.
