Champagne Stéphane Regnault, Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 'Lydien' No.119 NV

$247.00

From the south facing Le Chemin de Flavigny parcel in Oger, Lydien is the most expressive and immediately open of Stéphane’s single vineyard wines. Citrus peel, white flowers and ripe orchard fruit meet toasted brioche, hazelnut and a fine chalky edge. There’s lovely texture and breadth here, balanced by precise acidity and a long, salty mineral finish.

Lydien No. 119 is 100% Chardonnay from Le Chemin de Flavigny, a south facing Grand Cru parcel in Oger with very light topsoil over fractured chalk. The 2020 base vintage is blended with 25% perpetual reserve wine from 2014 to 2019. Fermented with native yeasts, 75% is vinified in oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation before spending almost four years on lees. The wine was bottled in July 2021, disgorged in June 2025, and only 2,640 bottles were produced. The vineyard is farmed without synthetic pesticides, using natural cover crops, herbal preparations and lunar farming principles.

Dosage: 1 g/L (Extra Brut).

Stéphane Regnault, a true Renaissance man, shifted from aerospace engineering to sommelier roles in vibrant London and Paris. In 2007, he took over his family’s vineyards in Le Mesnil sur Oger. Crafting Champagne exclusively from his 4 hectares of certified organic and biodynamic vineyards on the prestigious Côtes des Blancs, Stéphane uses only grapes he meticulously tends himself. An inspired young winemaker and avid jazz saxophonist, Stéphane names his cuvées after jazz modes—ancient musical scales that resonate with the character of his wines. His innovative winemaking approach involves creating a trilogy of site-specific cuvées, each enriched with a perpetual reserve. This tradition began with his debut vintage in 2014.
