Rittenhouse Rye 5YO barrel in bond - single barrel pick Joe.C
Age: 5 years (standard Rittenhouse is usually 4YO)
Mash-bill: 51% rye, 35% corn, and 14% malted barley
Aroma: Classic rye mint leads the way, without the earthy or herbal edge often found in Kentucky ryes. A touch of cinnamon peeks through the heat, giving lift and warmth.
Palate: Dark berry preserves, sweet mint chewing gum and a generous wave of sweetness that immediately lifts the mood. Far more substantial and textural than a standard Rittenhouse bottling, which can feel comparatively thin.
Finish: Medium in length, sweet and warming, with vanilla, white pepper and a final flicker of heat.
This barrel is something special. Joe was one of only four people globally given the chance to select from a rare set of 5-year-old Rittenhouse samples — and that extra year really shows. It delivers more depth, weight and character than the usual 4YO picks. A rewarding sipper on its own, and equally excellent in an Old Fashioned or perfect in a Sazerac.
